WASHINGTON, DC — A man was hospitalized Friday night after being shot in Southeast Washington, prompting a search for the shooter and an active investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of Savannah Terrace SE shortly after 8:40 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located a man suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was conscious and breathing when medics arrived and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No suspect description has been released, and no arrests have been made as of Saturday morning. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
