BETHEL PARK, PA – A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent rape and kidnapping that left a woman terrorized inside and outside her Parkwood Road home, authorities confirmed Thursday.
Detectives with the Special Victims Unit said the victim was attacked inside her residence by her former boyfriend, identified as Calvin Bennett, after he allegedly broke in through a top-floor window. Police said the woman managed to escape briefly to seek help, but Bennett caught up with her outside and forced her into the rear passenger seat of his vehicle before fleeing.
On February 6, members of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working alongside Bethel Park Police, located and arrested Bennett on Highland Road without incident. He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.
Investigators said Bennett faces a slate of felony charges, including rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping, sexual assault, unlawful restraint, robbery, false imprisonment, and two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
