Second suspect nailed in DC nightclub killing

Second arrest made in 2023 H Street nightclub homicide

Washington, DC – Nearly three years after gunfire erupted inside a Northeast nightclub, investigators have made another arrest in the deadly case that left one man dead and three others wounded.

The Metropolitan Police Department announced Thursday that an additional suspect has been arrested in connection with the September 23, 2023, shooting at a nightclub in the 1300 block of H Street, Northeast. Officers originally responded to the scene around 11:51 p.m. after reports of a shooting inside the establishment.

When officers arrived, they found three men and one woman suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported all four victims to local hospitals. One of the victims, later identified as 31-year-old Blake Bozeman of Southeast Washington, was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts. The remaining three victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police previously announced that on March 11, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 44-year-old Cotey Wynn of Northeast Washington. Wynn was charged with first-degree murder while armed pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.

On Thursday, members of the same task force located and arrested 43-year-old Frank Johnson Jr. of Camp Springs, Maryland. Johnson was transported to the Homicide Branch, where he was charged with first-degree murder while armed under a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
