Bronx man faces murder charge in sidewalk slaying

Bronx man indicted in fatal daytime stabbing of father on way to work

Bronx, NY – A midday walk to work ended in a deadly encounter on a busy Bronx corridor, prosecutors said, as a 38-year-old man now faces murder and manslaughter charges in the fatal stabbing of a father of two.

Bronx District Attorney officials announced that Sean Jones, 38, of the Bronx, has been indicted on second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the killing of 53-year-old George Ennin.

The stabbing occurred Monday afternoon at approximately 1:55 p.m. in the vicinity of Third Avenue between East 157th and East 158th streets. According to the investigation, Jones approached Ennin and allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the head, face, and torso. Prosecutors said one of the stab wounds pierced Ennin’s heart.

The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals Lincoln, where he later died from his injuries.

Jones was arraigned Tuesday in Bronx Supreme Court before Justice Pamela Goldsmith. He remains remanded. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 17.

The case is being prosecuted by the Bronx District Attorney’s Homicide Bureau. Officials emphasized that an indictment is an accusation and not proof of guilt, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
