Phone wielding attacker vanishes after station strike

Bronx, NY – A routine subway exit turned violent in broad daylight after an unidentified attacker struck two women with a cellphone on a Bronx station platform, then disappeared into the city.

The assault happened Saturday around 1:40 p.m. at the Elder Avenue station on the northbound 6 line. The two victims, both 46-year-old women, were exiting the train when an unknown individual approached and struck them with a cellphone, according to investigators.

The sudden attack unfolded within the confines of the 43rd Precinct and ended just as quickly, with the suspect fleeing the station before officers arrived. The condition of the victims was not released.

Surveillance images of the suspect have been circulated as investigators work to identify the individual responsible. Detectives are urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident to come forward.
