D.C. Carjacking Ends with Arrest of 13-Year-Old Suspect

Washington, D.C. — Authorities have arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with an unarmed carjacking in Northeast D.C.

On Tuesday, June 18, at 6:16 p.m., two suspects approached a victim in the 900 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast. They demanded the victim exit his vehicle and took the vehicle keys before fleeing the scene in the stolen car.

Shortly after, officers located the stolen vehicle in the 1700 block of First Street, Northwest. One of the suspects was seen exiting the vehicle and was promptly arrested, while the second suspect escaped on foot.

Following an investigation, a 13-year-old male from Northwest D.C. was arrested and charged with Unarmed Carjacking.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or to tip the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for crimes in the District of Columbia.
