Bronx, NY – An early morning commute turned violent inside a Bronx subway station when a man was struck with a glass bottle and robbed of his wallet during a predawn attack now under investigation.

The robbery occurred around 4:45 a.m. on February 5 in the mezzanine area of the Kingsbridge Road subway station, within the confines of the 52nd Precinct and Transit District 11. Police said a 59-year-old man was approached by an unidentified individual who struck him in the face with a glass bottle.

After the assault, the suspect forcibly removed the victim’s wallet, which contained approximately $100, before fleeing the station on foot in an unknown direction. The victim’s condition was not immediately released.

The suspect has not been identified, and detectives are working to determine the individual’s whereabouts as the investigation continues.
