Skittish dog missing in Farmingdale prompts urgent search

Farmingdale, NJ — A family dog named Reese is missing from Freehold Boro, sparking a community-wide effort to help bring her home after she was last seen running near Main Street in Farmingdale. Her family is devastated.

Reese, a Basenji with distinctive brown and white brindle markings and a curled tail, has not been seen since earlier this week. Flyers with her photo have been posted around town, showing her alert stance and unique appearance.

Her family is asking residents to keep an eye out but not to approach her, as Reese is described as extremely skittish and easily frightened. While she is friendly with other dogs, she is known to avoid strangers and sudden movements.

Her family relayed the following: “She ran through our electric fence and we were tracking her for a while but still missing her. We unfortunately found her collar broken on the ground with her AirTags missing on Main Street. That was devastating. She a runner and will run if you call for her, make kissing sounds, pat your leg, etc. If people can set up smelly food and some water in front of ring cameras we can possible narrow down an area!!! She will prob come out at night!!

If you are close to her, you can sit on the ground and put you palm out and she may possibly come. Please do not chase!! She runs at the sight of ppl and cars pulling up to her calling for her. This is one reason why she ran from Freehold Boro to Farmingdale!!!! There are so many kind people in your town! Our family appreciates all your kindness!”

Anyone who spots Reese is urged to contact her owner, George, at (347) 466-0770 with information.
