Germantown Woman Struck and Killed in Gaithersburg Pedestrian Collision

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A 30-year-old woman from Germantown was killed Monday night after being struck by a car while crossing Great Seneca Highway, authorities said. The Montgomery County Department of Police identified the victim as Dinora Aleman Amaya.

The incident occurred around 9:18 p.m. as a black 2019 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Great Seneca Highway near Kentlands Boulevard. According to police, Amaya was crossing the highway from Kentlands Boulevard toward Orchard Ridge Road when she was hit. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene following the collision.

Emergency responders from Gaithersburg City Police, Montgomery County Police, and Fire Rescue arrived shortly after the incident, but Amaya was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation and has asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact them at (240) 773-6620.

The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
