Jackson Township Settles Case With Couple Injured During Crash with Township Vehicle

Jackson Township settles lawsuit with couple injured in crash involving township vehicle

JACKSON, NJ – A lawsuit filed by a Jackson couple over a 2023 crash involving a township-operated vehicle has been settled, according to recently filed court documents.

The case, brought by Willard and Maureen Roberts against multiple defendants including the Township of Jackson, the County of Ocean, and the State of New Jersey Department of Treasury Bureau of Risk Management, stemmed from a collision that occurred on March 24, 2023, at Diamond Road and Bismark Road in Jackson.

A stipulation of dismissal filed in Ocean County Superior Court indicates that the matter between the plaintiffs and the Township of Jackson has been “amicably adjusted and settled.” The filing, signed by attorneys for both sides, dismisses all claims against the township without prejudice and notes that each party will bear its own costs.

The case was originally filed in March 2025, alleging that driver Efrain Antonmarchi, operating a government-owned vehicle, caused the collision through negligent and “palpably unreasonable” operation. The Roberts sought damages for injuries, medical expenses, and loss of consortium.

The settlement concludes Jackson Township’s involvement in the case. The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
