Teen charged in connection with shooting
Freehold, NJ – A shooting near a public library in broad daylight left one man wounded and sparked a multi-agency manhunt that ended with the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect now facing attempted murder charges.
Kanye P. Faucette, 19, of Keansburg, was charged in connection with the April 30 shooting near the Freehold Borough Public Library, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
Authorities said officers responded around 4:21 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the area of 28 East Main Street. When police arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Freehold Borough Police Department identified Faucette as the alleged shooter.
Faucette was later located and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
He has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The investigation also led to charges against Heaven D. Holmes, 20, of Keyport. Holmes faces charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Both defendants are being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending court proceedings.

The charges are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
