LAKEWOOD, N.J. — The Lakewood Fire Department has dispatched its Rehab and Care (RAC) Unit to aid in the ongoing response to a large forest fire in Jackson, N.J., providing critical support to firefighters working to contain the blaze.
In coordination with regional firefighting teams, the RAC Unit, staffed by Lakewood EMS personnel, is offering medical care, hydration, rest, and recovery services for responders at the scene. As crews face intense heat and hazardous conditions, the RAC Unit plays a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the firefighters on the front lines.
“Our RAC Unit allows us to extend critical support to our fellow firefighters as they work tirelessly to contain this wildfire,” said Lakewood Fire Chief Jon Yahr. “The health and welfare of our responders is paramount, and we’re proud to be able to support their needs in these challenging conditions.”
