67-year-old man admits role in online child abuse file sharing

Lakewood Township, NJ – A 67-year-old Lakewood man has pleaded guilty to distributing child sexual abuse material following an investigation that traced illicit online activity to his home, prosecutors announced.

Christopher Brondi entered the plea on September 15 before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer. Prosecutors said they will seek a 10-year state prison sentence, with five years of parole ineligibility, followed by Parole Supervision for Life. Brondi will also be required to register under Megan’s Law.

The case began when the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad identified an IP address in Lakewood that was being used to upload images of child sexual abuse material. Detectives executed a search warrant at Brondi’s residence on May 29, 2024, seizing electronic devices. A forensic review uncovered nearly 1,000 items of illegal material.

Further examination revealed that Brondi had shared more than 25 files through a peer-to-peer file sharing program. He was taken into custody at Lakewood Township Police Headquarters, charged, and later released under New Jersey Bail Reform provisions.

Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
