Letter to the Editor: Ed Durr, the Trucker, is New Jersey’s True Conservative Choice for Governor

As New Jersey gears up for the 2025 gubernatorial race, one candidate stands head and shoulders above the rest—not because he’s a polished politician, but because he’s a real, blue-collar conservative who’s never wavered on the issues that matter.

Ed Durr, famously known as “The Trucker,” is the only contender in this crowded field who hasn’t bent the knee to political expediency or trashed President Donald Trump. While others flip-flop to chase votes, Durr’s steady resolve makes him the clear choice to lead our state.

Look at the Republican field—Jack Ciattarelli, Jon Bramnick, Bill Spadea—all seasoned players with name recognition and cash. Yet, each has shown a willingness to hedge their bets, softening their tone on Trump or waffling on core conservative principles when it suits them.

Ciattarelli once supported driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, a position he’s since danced around. Spadea’s past as a radio host reveals shifting takes on immigration, depending on the audience. Bramnick plays the “moderate” card, sidestepping the tough calls.

Then there’s Durr: a truck driver who stunned the political world in 2021 by toppling Senate President Steve Sweeney with a shoestring budget and a backbone of steel. He’s never apologized for backing Trump, and his record proves he’s no fair-weather conservative.

On immigration, Durr’s been crystal clear—end New Jersey’s sanctuary state nonsense and put citizens first. No driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, no taxpayer-funded handouts.

Compare that to the Democratic hopefuls like Steve Sweeney, Ras Baraka, and Steve Fulop, who’d double down on Phil Murphy’s open-border playbook. Durr’s also unwavering on protecting girls’ sports from biological boys—a common-sense stance too many candidates dodge to avoid the woke mob. He’s pro-Second Amendment, anti-abortion with room for honest debate, and laser-focused on slashing taxes to make Jersey affordable again. No flip-flops, no pandering—just principle.

Durr’s not a career insider. He’s one of us—a guy who’s hauled furniture across the state while the Trenton elite hauled in perks. His 2021 upset showed he can win against the odds, and his term in the Senate showed he’ll fight for what’s right, even if it doesn’t pass the Legislature’s liberal filter. New Jersey doesn’t need another slick talker who’ll sway with the wind. We need Ed Durr, the Trucker—a governor who’ll stick to his guns and steer us back to sanity.
