Luzerne County methamphetamine ring leader sentenced to up to 33 years

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Stanley Sabatel, the leader of a Luzerne County methamphetamine trafficking organization, has been sentenced to 16 ½ to 33 years in prison following his conviction on multiple felony charges, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General announced Wednesday.

Sabatel, 26, was found guilty by a Luzerne County jury of crimes including conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver. Prosecutors said Sabatel was a key supplier, providing pounds of methamphetamine to street-level dealers across Luzerne County.

“This sentence not only is holding the defendant accountable for his crimes but is one big step towards making our communities safer,” said Attorney General Michelle Henry, who credited the collaborative efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police, local law enforcement, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for dismantling the operation.

Authorities said Sabatel and a co-conspirator were instrumental in maintaining the supply chain for the trafficking network, regularly delivering bulk quantities of methamphetamine to distributors in the region.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michelle Hardik, Chief Deputy Attorney General Angela Sperrazza, and Deputy Attorney General Thomas Hogans.
