Man arrested after breaking into occupied apartment and using stolen credit cards in DC

WASHINGTON, DC — A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a burglary at an occupied apartment on Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest, where the suspect allegedly stole credit cards later used without the victim’s consent.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the break-in occurred Monday, January 12, around 1:58 p.m., at an apartment in the 4100 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW. The suspect reportedly entered the apartment while it was occupied and stole personal property, including the victim’s credit cards. No injuries were reported.

The suspect fled the scene, but later activity on the stolen cards helped lead to an arrest.

On Thursday, January 15, Travis Brandon, 34, who police say has no fixed address, was taken into custody and charged with Burglary Two.

The investigation remains open. Authorities are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact police. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment.
