KEARNY, N.J. — Evin Ferman-Argueta was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison for his involvement in a 2017 home invasion, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez. The sentencing took place on July 24, with Judge John A. Young presiding.
Ferman-Argueta, 31, of Newark, had previously pleaded guilty to charges of Kidnapping, Robbery, and Aggravated Sexual Assault. The 25-year sentence for Kidnapping will run concurrent with the 18-year sentences for Robbery and Aggravated Sexual Assault. The terms of his sentence fall under the No Early Release Act, Megan’s Law, and Parole Supervision for Life. Ferman-Argueta will not be eligible for parole until he has served 85% of his sentence. Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Barbara Drasheff represented the state during sentencing.
The incident occurred on December 22, 2017, around 7:30 a.m., when Kearny Police responded to a reported burglary at a central Kearny residence. Upon arrival, officers found a female victim who stated that several unknown males had entered her apartment, demanded money, and sexually assaulted her before stealing her vehicle and various personal items.
Two co-defendants, Erick Leon-Farinago, 27, of Belleville, and David Gualteros, 28, of Newark, have both pleaded guilty to Kidnapping and are awaiting sentencing.
