Early morning gunfire leaves man dead on Akron street

Akron, OH – A quiet early morning in Akron was shattered by gunfire Friday when officers responding to a call found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a residential area, launching a homicide investigation.

Akron police said officers were dispatched at approximately 2:06 a.m. to the area of Noah Avenue and Bye Street for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 36-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid before the victim was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives from the Akron Police Department’s Midnight Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to canvass the area and continue the investigation. Crime Scene Unit detectives collected evidence from the location, which will be analyzed as part of the ongoing case.

Police said no arrests have been made at this time.
