Buffalo vape shop robbery ends with arrest after pistol whipping incident

Buffalo, NY – A violent robbery at a Delaware Avenue vape store has led to the arrest of a Buffalo man following a weeks-long investigation by city detectives.

The Buffalo Police Department announced that an arrest was made in connection with the robbery of a vape store in the 2700 block of Delaware Avenue. The incident occurred Saturday, January 17, when a male suspect allegedly entered the store and pistol-whipped two victims while stealing cash, an iPad, a wallet, and store merchandise.

Detectives conducted an investigation that led to the identification of a suspect. On Tuesday, February 3, officers apprehended the suspect without incident.

Police said a search warrant, signed by Erie County Judge Peter Savage, was executed in the 2600 block of Delaware Avenue. During the search, investigators recovered several .22-caliber rounds and property believed to have been stolen during the robbery.

Authorities identified the suspect as Anthony Cornwell, 26, of Buffalo. He has been charged with one count of robbery in the first degree, a class B felony under New York State law.
