Man stabbed to death inside DC building, suspect arrested

Arrest made in Virginia Avenue homicide after fatal stabbing in Northwest

WASHINGTON, DC – A violent confrontation inside a Northwest building ended in a deadly stabbing Thursday afternoon, and an arrest was made shortly after as investigators closed in on a suspect located near the scene.

The incident unfolded around 4:09 p.m. inside a building on the 2400 block of Virginia Avenue, Northwest, where first responders found an adult male suffering from stab wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released as officials work to notify next of kin.

A suspect was located nearby and taken into custody. A knife believed to be connected to the stabbing was recovered during the arrest. Authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Jose Perez, listed as having no fixed address.

Perez has been charged with second degree murder while armed. The investigation remains active as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
