Two teens arrested after Massachusetts Avenue shooting leaves juvenile wounded
WASHINGTON, DC – A Friday afternoon shooting along a busy Northeast corridor ended with two juvenile suspects in custody after a coordinated response by multiple law enforcement agencies, following gunfire that left a 15-year-old boy injured.
The shooting occurred around 4:12 p.m. in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast, where officers responding to reports of gunfire found a juvenile male conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Two suspects were stopped near the scene by members of the United States Capitol Police shortly after the shooting. Following an investigation by Metropolitan Police Department detectives, both individuals were placed under arrest.
Authorities said a 17-year-old juvenile male from Northeast and a 16-year-old juvenile male from Southeast were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon involving a firearm. An MPD K9 officer later recovered a gun in the vicinity of the shooting.

The investigation remains active. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact MPD at 202-727-9099 or submit tips by text to 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and indictment in violent crimes within the District.
MPD credited members of the United States Capitol Police for assisting in the response and stopping the suspects near the location of the shooting.
