Son accused of killing mother during late-night fight inside Maryland home

Laurel, MD – A quiet night turned deadly when a 22-year-old man allegedly killed his mother during a violent dispute inside their Prince George’s County home just before midnight on Saturday, according to police.

Fredy Grijalva-Hernandez has been charged with first-degree murder after officers found his mother, 44-year-old Maria Hernandez-Gonzalez, dead from trauma at their residence on Gorman Avenue. The call came in as a welfare check around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday. Responding officers discovered the victim unresponsive inside the home.

Despite emergency efforts, Hernandez-Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Grijalva-Hernandez was still on the property when police arrived and was taken into custody without incident. Detectives believe the murder occurred following a domestic dispute between the suspect and his mother.
