Lucky ticket hits $1.5M jackpot in Pittsburgh as hospital retailer scores bonus

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A lottery player is sitting on a life-changing $1.5 million prize after a winning scratch-off ticket was sold in Allegheny County, officials said.

The top-prize Cash Spectacular ticket was sold at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital on Halket Street, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.

The hospital retailer will also receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The identity of the winner has not been released, and it remains unclear whether the prize has been claimed.

Cash Spectacular is a $30 scratch-off game featuring top prizes of $1.5 million, with tickets distributed randomly across the state.

Lottery officials noted that retailers and the Lottery itself do not know where winning tickets are located until they are sold and claimed.

Winners are encouraged to sign the back of their tickets immediately and contact the Lottery to begin the claims process. Prizes over $5,000 are subject to applicable taxes.

Scratch-off prizes must be claimed within one year from the game’s official end-sale date.
