FRIDLEY, MN – A late-night drive home from a party turned into a violent encounter when a Minnesota mother was shot in the neck following a minor crash, leaving her 5-year-old daughter running through a neighborhood seeking help, according to authorities.

The incident unfolded after the woman attended a prom send-off gathering in nearby Columbia Heights and attempted to leave the area with her child. As she pulled away, her SUV made contact with another vehicle parked behind her, a minor collision that investigators say escalated within moments into a targeted पीछuit and shooting.

Suspects identified and charged

Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost, 38, was taken into custody and booked into the Anoka County Jail on charges of first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and drive-by shooting toward a person with dangerous weapons, according to jail records reviewed by Law & Crime. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 37-year-old Cynthia Victoria Frost was also arrested in connection with the case.

According to reports, after the initial contact between vehicles, the suspects left the scene but quickly re-engaged. The victim told investigators the Frosts performed “something similar to a PIT maneuver” to force her vehicle to stop roughly a block from the party. When she pulled over, the suspects allegedly exited their vehicle, yelling and threatening to “beat her.”

The woman attempted to flee again, but the suspects pursued her a second time. Moments later, she reported hearing a gunshot before losing control of her body.

Child runs for help after crash

The bullet struck the victim in the neck, causing her to lose control of her SUV. The vehicle veered off the roadway and came to a stop in a grassy area near the intersection of 53rd Avenue Northeast and University Avenue Northeast in Fridley, authorities said.

Her 5-year-old daughter exited the vehicle and began running through the area asking for help, according to KSTP.

The victim sustained a spinal cord injury and was taken into surgery, where doctors removed bullet fragments from her neck. Officials have not released the full extent of her injuries.

Arrests and legal status

The Frosts were arrested Monday. Cordaryle Frost remains in custody with bail set at $2 million. Jail records indicate he denied involvement in the shooting. Cynthia Victoria Frost, who faced the same charges, was released from custody Wednesday.

Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the escalation or whether further charges could be filed.
