Murder suspects arrested after Foxtrot tracks down fleeing vehicle

Four arrested in deadly January shooting in Baltimore’s Southern District

Baltimore, MD – Four men have been arrested in connection with the January shooting death of Deon Beasley, who was gunned down in broad daylight on Washington Boulevard earlier this year, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Homicide detectives announced the arrests of 37-year-old Terrill Barfield, 40-year-old James Hammond, 26-year-old Lakeem Whitaker, and 32-year-old Jarvis Joyner. The four are now facing charges related to the killing of 36-year-old Beasley, who was shot and killed around 4:13 p.m. on January 12 in the 800 block of Washington Blvd.

Responding to a ShotSpotter alert, Southern District officers arrived at the scene and found Beasley with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly after the shooting, officers and the Foxtrot aviation unit pursued a vehicle fleeing from the area. The chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into a police car and a guardrail. Occupants were detained and interviewed by police.

Following the months-long investigation, authorities charged Barfield, Hammond, and Whitaker with first- and second-degree murder. Joyner was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and multiple handgun offenses. All four suspects are currently being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the homicide or the relationship between the suspects and the victim.
