Neighborhood store sparks lottery shocker in NY

Quiet Millwood shop sells TAKE 5 ticket that lights up lottery night

Millwood, NY – A low-key stop at a neighborhood drug store turned into a sudden payday after a TAKE 5 ticket sold in Millwood hit for more than $10,000, making it the standout win of a multi-city lottery night.

The New York Lottery announced that one top-prize winning ticket for the TAKE 5 Evening drawing was sold at Drug Mart, located at 230 Saw Mill River Road in Millwood. The ticket is worth $10,058.50.

While additional top-prize tickets were also sold in Rochester and Yonkers, the Millwood win marked a notable hit for the small Westchester hamlet, where big lottery prizes are far less common than in major cities.

TAKE 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39, with drawings held twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Lottery officials said prizes of any amount must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.

The New York Lottery reported it remains North America’s largest and most profitable lottery, contributing $3.6 billion in the 2024–2025 fiscal year to support public schools statewide.
