New York Lottery hands out big win to lucky Syracuse winner

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A lucky lottery player in Syracuse is waking up $29,668.50 richer after scoring the top prize in the July 14 TAKE 5 evening drawing, the New York Lottery confirmed Tuesday.

The winning ticket was sold at Maloney Superette, located at 405 Stolp Avenue. The store will now join the list of recent retailers celebrating big-payout wins in the state.

TAKE 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39 and are televised twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Players who match all five numbers win the top prize, which is divided equally among all winning tickets.

Winners have up to one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. As of Tuesday, the Syracuse ticket remains unclaimed.

The New York Lottery, the most profitable lottery system in North America, contributed $3.8 billion to public education in New York State during the 2023–2024 fiscal year.
