June 4, 2024

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is calling for the public’s assistance in locating Michael McDonald, 33, wanted for questioning in relation to a robbery that took place on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at approximately 10 AM.

The incident occurred at the P&T Supermarket on the 300 block of Clinton Place. A delivery driver, upon entering the supermarket, was alerted by his car alarm and discovered three male suspects stealing tobacco products valued at $2,000 from his vehicle parked near Lehigh Avenue. When he confronted the suspects, they assaulted him with punches and kicks, also taking his cell phone.

The suspects fled the scene in a 2011 Kia Sorrento with New Jersey license plate Y29MVR, which was noted to have damage to the rear passenger and tailgate windows. Descriptions of the suspects include one wearing a black ski mask, light-gray hooded sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, and gloves. The second suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans with distinctive white marks on the back pockets, and white shoes. The third was dressed in a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, faded, ripped blue jeans, and gray and white sneakers.

The Newark Police Department is urging anyone with information about this incident or the whereabouts of Michael McDonald to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
