NJ man gets prison time and lifetime supervision under Megan’s Law

Alexandria man sentenced to 3 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material

ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 34-year-old Alexandria Township man has been sentenced to state prison following a joint investigation that led to the discovery of child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced Friday.

Eduardo M. Duran-Carrasco was sentenced on January 12 by Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garrenger to three years in New Jersey State Prison. In addition to the prison term, Duran-Carrasco will be subject to Megan’s Law registration and Parole Supervision for Life.

The investigation began with a tip received by the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit. Acting on that information, investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police Kingwood Barracks, and the Sayreville Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at Duran-Carrasco’s residence on April 12, 2024.

During the search, investigators located child sexual abuse material that led to charges in both Hunterdon and Middlesex counties. Prosecutors confirmed that Duran-Carrasco pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child — one related to possession of child sexual abuse material in Hunterdon County and the other to charges originating in Middlesex County. Sentencing for both matters was consolidated in Hunterdon County.

Duran-Carrasco was represented by attorney Joie D. Piderit. His prison sentence will be followed by lifetime supervision and mandatory registration as a sex offender under New Jersey law.
