FRANKLIN, VA – A casual stop at a Franklin convenience store turned into a six-figure surprise for Curtis Whitehead of Norfolk, who hit the $100,000 top prize playing the Virginia Lottery’s Bingo Multiplier scratch-off game.

Whitehead, who doesn’t usually play the Lottery, purchased the ticket while visiting his father in Franklin. Unfamiliar with the game, he asked his dad to check the scratcher—only to be told he had won the top prize.

Whitehead bought the ticket at Park N Shop, located at 700 South Street in Franklin. His winning ticket was one of three top-prize tickets issued for the Bingo Multiplier game. Only one remains unclaimed.

The odds of winning the top prize in Bingo Multiplier are 1 in 1,387,200, while the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.53.

All profits from the Virginia Lottery support K-12 education. Franklin City, where the ticket was purchased, received over $2 million in education funding from the Lottery last fiscal year.
