North Jersey massage therapist banned for life over alleged sexual misconduct
Trenton, NJ — A North Jersey massage therapist has been permanently stripped of his license following allegations of sexual misconduct involving multiple female clients during sessions at two separate workplaces, state officials announced Thursday.
Pedro Chris Castillo agreed to surrender his license under a consent order with the New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy, barring him from ever practicing massage therapy again in the state. The action stems from allegations that he engaged in inappropriate and unwanted sexual contact with clients at a chiropractic and therapy practice in Wayne and at a spa in East Rutherford.
According to findings outlined in the consent order, multiple women reported that Castillo exposed intimate body parts by improperly draping sheets, touched clients in a sexual manner, and in one instance placed a client’s hand on his body. The allegations include contact involving buttocks, breasts, and genital areas.
The board determined that Castillo violated state laws governing professional conduct, citing gross negligence, repeated acts of negligence, and professional misconduct. Regulators also found violations of rules explicitly prohibiting sexual misconduct by licensed massage therapists.
Under the terms of the agreement, Castillo must cease all client contact and is prohibited from providing any massage-related services, including training others. He is also barred from entering the premises of former workplaces during business hours when clients are present.
The investigation was conducted by the Division of Consumer Affairs, with legal representation provided by the Division of Law.
State officials said the enforcement action is part of ongoing oversight of licensed professionals operating in New Jersey.
