Letter to the editor by Sharon C., Ocean County
I’m a mother of three kids and I’m terrified about what is happening to Jackson and our surrounding towns. Investors are buying homes and renting to illegal aliens and the increase in deadly and serious car crashes caused by these undocumented individuals is on the rise. What do you expect when you put five migrant families in a million dollar McMansion because they are easy Section 8 checks each month?
I’m tired of Illegal Aliens killing our children and families. I’m tired of the people who are illegally renting houses to multiple families in my town and on my block.
There, I said it. Sue me.
First, I want to thank Shore News Network for being the only media outlet in Ocean County that’s not afraid to publish the truth on this topic. I used this website, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Jersey Shore Online for my research.

Friday night’s hit-and-run by an illegal alien in Lakewood hits too close to home again. The man lives in Jackson and it could have just as easily been one of our children in the intensive care unit at Jersey Shore Medical Center today.
I’m tired. Bone-tired. I’m tired of reading the headlines and I’m tired of living in fear that my kids could be the next headline.
Exhausted from watching the same nightmare play out again and again in Ocean County and across New Jersey: illegal aliens behind the wheel, illegal aliens with criminal records who should never have been here, illegal aliens who kill, maim, and flee—leaving American families to bury their dead while politicians offer empty “we have a plan” press conferences.
Our mayor and council are no exempt from this. My neighborhood still has 4 houses for of illegal migrant families living in them no matter how many press releases they put out and no matter how many times they tell me they have plan.
I’m still living the nightmare and so are you, so are my neighbors.
Making news today, Motorcycle Crash Closes 29th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach; Rider Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries.
Let’s start with the deadly car crashes, because that’s where the blood is literally on the pavement.
In July 2025, Raul Luna-Perez, an illegal alien from Mexico with a rap sheet that already included two prior DUIs and a domestic violence arrest, drove drunk through Lakewood. He crossed into oncoming traffic at high speed and slammed head-on into a Nissan Sentra carrying 42-year-old Maria Pleitez and her 11-year-old daughter Dayanara Cortes. Both were killed instantly.
Another child was seriously injured.
Luna-Perez’s blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit. He had no business being in this country, let alone behind the wheel. Yet sanctuary policies and lax enforcement kept him here until he finally slaughtered a mother and child.
That wasn’t an isolated horror. Ocean County and surrounding areas have seen a pattern. Illegal aliens with prior removals or criminal histories keep showing up in fatal crashes, hit-and-runs, and reckless driving incidents.
Across the region, Mystery shooting as 27-year-old man walks into Baltimore hospital with gunshot wound.
Just weeks ago, another illegal alien—Wilson “Adrian” Morocho-Necta from Ecuador, who had already been deported once—struck and killed a 68-year-old pedestrian in a hit-and-run, then fled on foot. He didn’t stop. He didn’t care.
He ran.
And the violent crime wave isn’t limited to the roads. Over the past two years, Ocean County has recorded a rash of serious offenses committed by illegal aliens: aggravated assaults, sexual assaults of minors, home invasions, and more.
Why are they sexually assaulting their children? It is unfathomable to think of. But, we see it weekly in the news in our own area.
One illegal alien from Mexico was recently arrested in Ocean County for sexually assaulting a 13-to-15-year-old victim.
Another group of migrants was charged in a violent home invasion. These aren’t “undocumented workers” down on their luck. These are people who entered illegally, accumulated records, and were allowed to stay anyway.
Now tie it to the housing crisis that’s fueling the influx. In Jackson Township—right here in Ocean County—investors and LLCs have been snapping up single-family homes, some worth well into the million-dollar range, and illegally converting them into overcrowded boarding houses. Multiple families—often five or six at a time—are packed in, turning quiet neighborhoods into de facto migrant encampments.
Township officials just launched a crackdown because the problem has exploded: illegal partitions, safety hazards, strained schools and roads, and a clear link to the broader illegal immigration surge.
We can’t do anything about the surge, but Chris Pollak is right. We need to do what we can and we need to do it now…and fast.
These properties aren’t being rented to law-abiding American families. They’re enabling the very population driving up crime and chaos.
I’m tired of the lip service from local officials and state leaders. They stand at microphones and tell us they “have a plan.”
They promise tougher enforcement, more inspections, cooperation with ICE. Then another illegal alien with priors walks free or gets behind the wheel and another family is destroyed. New Jersey’s Immigrant Trust Directive—its sanctuary-style policy—ties the hands of local police.
Criminals with ICE detainers aren’t handed over. Repeat offenders aren’t deported. And the result? More dead children, more grieving parents, more communities living in fear.
Enough. We don’t need another task force, another study, another press release about “root causes” in Central America.
I don’t care about what’s happening in Central America. I don’t even care about what’s happening in North Jersey. I care about the children and families being destroyed and killed here in Ocean County.
The commissioners are silent. Our local officials are silent. The police are silent. Nobody wants to talk about the root causes of these problems, they just want to put bandaids on gashing wounds, hoping to stop the bleeding until the next election.
That’s all.
The root causes are right here: open borders that let millions in, sanctuary policies that shield criminals, failure to enforce immigration law, and local greed that turns million-dollar homes into illegal flophouses for people who have no legal right to be here.S
top the madness now. Enforce the law. Deport the criminals. End the sanctuary nonsense.
Crack down on the illegal housing racket that imports more problems every month. Secure the border.
Put American families first—our children, our wives, our husbands, our neighbors—before another innocent life is taken by someone who was never supposed to be here in the first place.
I’m tired.
And I know I’m not the only one. It’s time Ocean County, New Jersey, and this country finally said: no more.
