Odenton Verizon store robbery prompts search for armed suspect

ODENTON, MD – A man displaying a handgun inside a Verizon store on Annapolis Road triggered a police response Thursday evening, as officers searched the area for a suspect who fled with merchandise and remains at large.

The incident unfolded around 6:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Annapolis Road, where Western District officers were dispatched following reports of a commercial robbery. According to Anne Arundel County Police, the suspect initially entered the store and engaged with employees before escalating the situation.

“Officers learned the suspect came into the business to speak with employees,” Anne Arundel County Police said in a statement. “The suspect then displayed a handgun at employees and patrons of the store.”

Search for suspect continues

Police said the suspect took store merchandise before leaving the scene. Officers and detectives canvassed the surrounding area shortly after the robbery but were unable to locate him.

“The suspect took store merchandise and left the business,” police said. “Officers and detectives canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.”

Investigators described the suspect as a Black male wearing a yellow construction shirt, dark-colored pants, a white medical mask, and a black hat.

Call for public assistance

Authorities are now asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the individual. Detectives urged anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
