Out of state worker hits $150K Ohio lottery jackpot

North Carolina man strikes $150K Ohio lottery win on Monopoly scratch off

Ashtabula, OH – A North Carolina man working far from home got an unexpected payday after a routine stop for scratch-off tickets in northeast Ohio delivered a $150,000 Monopoly Bonus win.

Gerardo, who lives in Gaston, North Carolina but works in Ashtabula, scored the big prize playing the $20 Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 100X scratch-off game. The winning ticket was purchased at Village Food Mart, located at 6314 South Main Street in North Kingsville.

Gerardo said he regularly stops at the store to buy scratch-off tickets but never expected a win of this size. After mandatory state and federal withholdings totaling 26.75 percent, his take-home amount comes to $109,875.

The winner said he plans to focus on his health with the winnings, including purchasing exercise equipment, while investing and saving the remainder.

Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 100X offers players a chance to win up to $1 million. As of February 3, there remains one top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years and one second-tier prize still available. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.48.

The Ohio Lottery reported it has contributed more than $34 billion to education since its inception in 1974.
