STAFFORD, Va. — A series of incidents ranging from assaults to larcenies were reported over the weekend, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The latest daily police blotter highlights multiple cases that kept deputies busy across the county.

On Sunday afternoon, an assault was reported at Tobacco Hut on Mine Road. The victim told police that an unknown man initiated a conversation, which the victim declined, leading the suspect to physically attack him, according to Deputy R.W. Stamm’s report.

Earlier that morning, a DUI incident occurred near the intersection of Warrenton Road and Village Parkway. Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to a single-vehicle accident where the driver, who exhibited signs of intoxication, had rolled his vehicle after hitting a tree stump. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash and was charged with driving under the influence.

Several larcenies were reported, including a vehicle theft from the Sheetz parking lot on Garrisonville Road. Deputy T.G. Croson responded to the theft, and later, the stolen vehicle was recovered by Winchester Police, leading to a warrant for grand larceny. In another case, a woman’s wallet was stolen while shopping at Publix, resulting in fraudulent activity on her credit cards, as captured on store surveillance.

In a separate incident on Sunday afternoon, a juvenile was caught shoplifting snacks and cosmetics from Walmart. The stolen items were recovered, and a criminal complaint was filed. Other thefts were reported at Target and Ross, with the suspects in both cases fleeing the scene.

Deputies also dealt with a public intoxication case on Aquia Bay Avenue early Sunday morning. A man, later identified as a 20-year-old, was found on a resident’s porch after reportedly consuming six beers. Deputy J.A. Martin arrested the individual, who was charged with public intoxication and underage drinking.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate these incidents.
