TENTH DISTRICT, MD — The Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department reported a recent marine rescue operation on the Potomac River near Mattawoman Creek.

Over the weekend, the department’s Boat 8 and Boat 20 were dispatched to a vessel that was taking on water. Before their arrival, all occupants of the distressed vessel were safely rescued by a private boat, with no reported injuries.

The Fire Department used this incident to remind the public of the importance of safety equipment on board. They encourage all boat passengers to ensure they are adequately equipped for emergencies to enhance safety on the water.
