Three Newark Men Arrested After Stolen BMW M8 Recovered in Maplewood

MAPLEWOOD, N.J. — Three Newark men were arrested on Saturday morning after allegedly stealing a BMW M8 from a Maplewood residence and fleeing the scene. The Maplewood Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 4:40 a.m. on August 24, 2024, after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle from a home on Colonial Terrace.

According to police, the suspects entered the residence through an unsecured rear window, ransacked the home, and stole a key fob for a gray 2023 BMW M8. The suspects then fled the area in the stolen vehicle.

Later that morning, at around 11:30 a.m., Maplewood Police Detectives located the stolen vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike and began trailing it in an unmarked police car. With assistance from the New Jersey State Police, a felony stop was conducted, leading to the suspects fleeing on foot across the highway. All three suspects were apprehended shortly thereafter.

The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Tyshir Stewart, 22-year-old Isaiah Singleton, and 18-year-old Daniel DeLeon, all of Newark, were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Eluding, and Receiving Stolen Property. The trio was transported to the county jail following their arrests.
