“Tone Deaf” Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie criticized after launching 9-11 Twitter attack against Trump, followers

September 12, 2021

MORRISTOWN, NJ – Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie spoke on Friday at the Reagan Library, but on Saturday, he tweeted out his video on the 20th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Many criticized Christie, who is expected to announce his 2024 candidacy for President in the near future.

Christie chastized former U.S. President Donald J. Trump and urged the Republican Party to disassociate with the former Commander-in-Chief and his followers he labeled as “conspiracy theorists”.

“The Democrats will not be defeated without sound alternatives to their flawed ideas. Calling them wrong is not enough. Calling them names is immature & ineffective. Pretending we won when we lost is a waste of time, energy & credibility,” Christie tweeted as Trump was in New York City meeting with firefighters on the anniversary of 9-11.

In a nutshell, Christie told Republicans to stop living in the past and to move forward, ignoring the conspiracy theorists of the party and those who want to see a return of Donald Trump.

On Friday, Christie told his small audience that Republicans need to, “Discredit extremists in our midst.”

“Enough with the wishful thinking and self-delusion. We are also overdue to stop the wallowing in the past,” Christie said during his speech. “We need to renounce the conspiracy theorists and truth deniers, the ones who know better and the ones who are just plain nuts.”

“This is what you choose to put out on 9.11?” One Twitter user responded.

“You chose this to be your first tweet on the 20th anniversary of 9/11? Incredible,” exclaimed John Soliman.

“Maybe ranting like the idiot you are wasn’t the brightest thing to do on 9/11, Chrissie,” said Bruce Kanin.

Another Twitter user called Christie “Tone Deaf” for both the timing of his post and the fact that Christie would probably lose a Presidential Primary in his own state of New Jersey.

Christie served as an aide to Trump and worked on his 2020 election campaign. Trump blamed Christie last year when the President contracted COVID-19, saying the former Governor had spit flying in the air as he spoke to the President. Both men contracted the virus after preparing together for a debate against Joe Biden. Trump had mild symptoms and Christie reportedly spent a week in ICU.

Christie received just 8% of the total votes in the 2016 Iowa primary election.
