FAIRFAX, VA — Jordan Cochran, a 22-year-old from Alexandria, Virginia, has been convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding by a Fairfax County jury. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday following a trial that detailed two violent shootings near Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley.
The incidents unfolded on a previous evening, starting with a dispute over sneakers at a bus stop at Richmond Highway and Dart Drive around 6:22 PM. Cochran fatally shot Kebbren Isaiah Leigh-Gaye, 18, also of Alexandria, in the upper body. Leigh-Gaye was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
After fleeing the initial scene, Cochran encountered another man in a 7-Eleven parking lot at 3100 Lockheed Blvd. After his request for a ride was denied, Cochran shot the man in the eye, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Cochran was apprehended and reportedly boasted to police about acquiring his “first two bodies.” His sentencing is scheduled for November, where he faces the possibility of life imprisonment. Cochran’s attorney has not yet responded to requests for comment on the verdict.
