Virginia man stabbed at Jersey Shore Area Motel

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A 50-year-old man from Hampton, Virginia, was stabbed multiple times following a dispute at the Economy Inn Motel on State Highway 35, authorities said. The incident occurred early Sunday morning.

Wall Township Police responded to the motel around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, and found the victim with multiple stab wounds to his midsection and back.

He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by local emergency medical services. His condition has not been released.

Police identified the suspect as Geraldo Voglino, 37, of Eatontown. The investigation revealed that Voglino and the victim were involved in a dispute over a cell phone, which led to Voglino stabbing the man multiple times.

Voglino fled the scene but was arrested later that evening at a residence on Barker Avenue in Shrewsbury Township.

Voglino faces charges including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree burglary with a weapon, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution and awaits court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.
