A 24-year-old Yonkers man has pleaded guilty to murdering a 68-year-old woman in a brutal knife attack inside her apartment, Westchester County prosecutors announced Thursday.

Deshawn Nunez admitted to stabbing Renee Spencer 17 times during a late-night assault on Aug. 9, 2022, at her home on Nepperhan Avenue. The vicious attack left Spencer — a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — dead at the scene.

Nunez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, a class A felony. He is expected to receive a sentence of 25 years to life in prison when he returns to court on Sept. 25.

Prosecutors said the attack was unprovoked and offered no motive. The case was investigated by the Yonkers Police Department and prosecuted by the Major Case Bureau of the Westchester County DA’s Office.
