Teen arrested after group robs woman at knifepoint in Northeast DC

Washington, DC – A 15-year-old boy is in custody after a group of five suspects robbed a woman in broad daylight Thursday afternoon near 18th and C Street NE, according to police, who say one of the suspects threatened the victim by simulating a weapon hidden in his pocket.

The victim was walking in the area just after 4 p.m. when the group approached her. One of the suspects demanded her cell phone while keeping his hand in his pocket in a way that suggested he was armed. The woman complied, and all five suspects fled the scene on foot.

Officers responding to the scene quickly located and detained one of the suspects. The juvenile male, from Southeast DC, was arrested and charged with robbery.

Police have not confirmed if the other four suspects have been identified or apprehended. Investigators are continuing to review evidence and are asking the public to provide any information that may lead to additional arrests.

The Metropolitan Police Department has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that result in the arrest and indictment of those responsible.
