Car pulled from pond in Cheval

by Jeff Jones

CHEVAL, FL – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car submerged in a retention pond earlier this week. The HCSO Underwater Recovery Team responded to a scene in Cheval after a vehicle nose-dived into a retention pond off of Lutz Lake Fern Rd.

“Fortunately, the sole occupant was able to get out of the vehicle and was not injured,” the Sheriff’s Department said. “The car was fully submerged underwater and HCSO Divers assisted with the recovery and removal process. It’s rainy season here in Florida. We’re urging drivers to be extra cautious when our roads are wet.”

HCSO Divers also recommend having a window punch and seat belt cutter in your vehicle at all times. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation as this one, these will help you escape.
