17-year-old charged in Columbus’ 182nd murder of 2021

COLUMBUS, OH – The city of Columbus is nearing its 200th homicide of 2021 after a 17-year-old was charged for murder. 17-year-old Deshajuan Carpenter has been charged.

On December 3, 2021, at 10:12 am, patrol officers responded to the 1800 block of Oakgrove Ct. on a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a black male victim who had been shot sitting inside of a vehicle. Medical attention was summoned; however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene at 10:24am.

Preliminary investigative results uncovered that this was a robbery attempt. Several witnesses and persons of interest have been interviewed. The investigation continues.
