Thief Steals Two Cars from Newark Service Station

NEWARK, NJ – A brazen criminal broke into Smitty’s garage on Monday and drove off with two vehicles and a cashbox.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said at approximately 1:30 a.m., police responded to a call of a burglary at Smitty’s Mobile Exxon, 101 13th Avenue.

“The suspect entered the business by shattering a garage window. He then removed a cash box containing $300.00 and two vehicles, a black 2003 Mercedes Benz, which has been recovered by Police, and a silver 2009 Honda Accord LX, which has not yet been recovered,” Frage said.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
