Pittsburgh Police find stolen gun at local football game

PITTSBURGH, PA – Police in Pittsburgh operating at local football games have reported that one illegal gun was found during that detail this past weekend.

“Over the weekend, PBP officers were able to take at least one illegal firearm off the street while attending and staffing area football games,” the department said. “While working with security at Kennard Field, a Zone 2 officer saw a man throw a black backpack over the fence into the field area. The officer jumped over the fence, after which the man threw the sack back over the fence outside the field boundary.”

The officer recovered the backpack and found two loaded guns inside. One of the firearms was later found to be stolen .

One man was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and the investigation is ongoing.
