COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus police officers arrested a 32-year-old woman after reports that she was outside with a gun and threatening to shoot someone in front of the Weinland Park Elementary School.

Upon their arrival officers identified thirty-two-year-old Shantel Mayle inside her car after she was pointed out by the school principal.

Police officers approached her Chevrolet Suburban, which was still parked on school property at the time, in an attempt to make contact with her. She immediately rolled up her car window and refused to speak to the police.

Responding officers removed Mayle from her car and during the investigation found a . No25 caliber handgun in the vehicle’s center console. She was arrested and charged accordingly.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Columbus Police Department noted that the suspect was a convicted prior felon and more charges may follow shortly.
