Biden Announces Federal Task Force To ‘Counter Antisemitism’

President Joe Biden announced Monday evening that the National Security and Domestic Policy Councils are working together to create a task force to “counter antisemitism.”

The announcement comes after Biden condemned rising antisemitic rhetoric in a Dec. 2 statement. The first order of business for the task force will be creating a national strategy to combat antisemitism, according to the announcement.

Eventually, the task force will expand to counter Islamophobia and other “related forms of bias and discrimination,” according to the announcement.

“Americans should forcefully reject antisemitism – including Holocaust denial – wherever it exists,” Biden said in Monday’s announcement, echoing the Dec. 2 statement.

Celebrities like Kanye West have come under fire in recent months for promoting antisemitic views.

I just want to make a few things clear:

The Holocaust happened.

Hitler was a demonic figure.

And instead of giving it a platform, our political leaders should be calling out and rejecting antisemitism wherever it hides.

Silence is complicity.

“This strategy will raise understanding about antisemitism and the threat it poses to the Jewish community and all Americans, address antisemitic harassment and abuse both online and offline, seek to prevent antisemitic attacks and incidents, and encourage whole-of-society efforts to counter antisemitism and build a more inclusive nation,” the statement read.

The White House further explained that it would be seeking the advice and counsel of “advocates, civil rights leaders” and members of Congress. The president’s announcement follows an antisemitism summit conducted by Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, who is Jewish, according to The Hill.

“Let me be clear: Words matter,” Emhoff stated. “People are no longer saying the quiet parts out loud. They are screaming them.”

The White House did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
