CAMBRIDGE, MD – Police in Cambridge arrested a man for gun possession after a foot chase last week.

On April 3, at approximately 9:35am, CPD officers on patrol in the area of Douglas St and High St observed a subject, later identified as Roderick Darnell Bell (31 years old of East New Market, MD), attempting to conceal a handgun in his clothing.

As officers tried to contact Bell, he attempted to flee on foot. The CPD officer pursued the suspect, who discarded several items in yards while carrying the handgun. After a foot pursuit, the officer apprehended Bell.

A canvas of the area led officers to locate the discarded handgun, which was found to be a loaded 9mm semi-automatic. Bell, who was prohibited from possessing a firearm, was transported to CPD for processing. He had his initial appearance before a Court Commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on No Bond.

Bell was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony and obstructing and hindering.
