Newark police seeking second suspect in assault and robbery on Broadway

Newark, NJ – The Newark Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a robbery suspect who assaulted and robbed a victim in the 700 block of Broadway on April 19, 2023. The police responded to a call about the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:21 p.m.

According to police reports, three suspects attacked the victim by striking him in the head with a bottle before stealing his personal belongings, including his wallet and cell phone. Shortly after the incident, police apprehended two of the suspects, Tyheed Z. Moore, 26, of Newark, and Zamir M. Hawkins, 22, of East Orange, and charged them with robbery, conspiracy, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.

However, one of the suspects is still at large, and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is requesting the public’s help in identifying him. The suspect is described as a thin-built Black male with shoulder-length dreads with blonde tips. He was last seen wearing a blue sweater with a black bubble vest, black pants, and grey/green sneakers. The individual is known to frequent the housing complex on Grafton Avenue.

Director Fragé is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
